These days you can find countless different brands of protein bars that claim to do the same thing, and the number of options can be quite overwhelming if you’re not an expert in the field. Not all protein bars are equal, so we know you’ll have questions. We’ve provided the answers so you don’t have to ask.

#1 Do they contain a daily dose of protein?

Daily protein requirements vary depending on individual factors such as body weight, how much exercise someone does and what types of exercises they do. In general, endurance athletes are advised to have around 1.2-1.4g of protein per kilogram of body weight, whereas strength athletes are encouraged to consume between 1.2-1.7g of protein per day. According to these recommendations, one protein bar does not contain enough protein to cater for an entire day’s dose. Our bars are packed with 20g of protein for a quick and easy top-up of protein and should be treated as an extra source of protein alongside a nutritious diet rather than a sole source of protein.

#3 How many can I have per day?

In general, we recommend having one protein bar per day in conjunction with a healthy diet so that your body receives the wide range of nutrients it needs to serve different bodily functions.

#4 Do the RELOAD protein bars help increase muscle mass?

Our bars do contain ingredients that can promote muscle development alongside the appropriate diet and exercise regime. Our bars are charged with branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) which help stimulate muscle protein synthesis, essentially supporting muscle growth. Our bars also contain digestive enzymes, which allow the body to better absorb nutrients and therefore helps improve performance.

#5 Are the RELOAD protein bars good for weight loss?

Our bars are rich in MCT oil that helps keep you full and satisfied, reducing the need for further snacking. They also contain plant-based proteins which are lower in calories than any other form of protein.

#6 When should I eat my RELOAD protein bar?

We recommend eating a RELOAD protein bar 30 minutes before or after a workout to fuel the body. They are also great to eat on the go if you don’t have time to stop for a full meal or need an extra boost to go on with your day.
